Judie Stephens (Hansen)

Judie Hansen, 75, of Taylorville passed away on May 23rd at 6:05 pm, at Life’s Journey Senior Living Center in Taylorville.


She was born on August 10, 1943 in Lake Forest, IL, the daughter of Mary (Davidson) and James Stephens.  She married Charles Hansen on June 29, 1968, recently celebrating 50 years of marriage.

Judie began her career as a high school physical education teacher at Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, IL.  After four years, she paused to start a family, then Judie switched to teaching at the pre-school level for 14 years.  After moving to Taylorville, she continued working with 4-year olds in the PREP program.  


An Illinois resident all her life, Judie grew up in Lake Forest, built her family and career in Northbrook, then she and Chuck “retired” to Taylorville in 1993.  Judie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Taylorville.
Judie was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ann Taylor.


She is survived by her husband, Chuck Hansen of Taylorville; daughters: Elizabeth (Jeff) Weatherford of Springfield, IL, and Jodie (Mark) Zaslavsky of Libertyville, IL; grandchildren: Ashlyn and Kyle Weatherford and Zach and CJ Zaslavsky.  
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 from 11:30-1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral Service will follow the visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Pastor Becky Lembke officiating.  Burial will be held immediately following the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.

Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting with funeral arrangements.

Diane Belmonte (Patterson)

So sad to hear of another one of our classmate has passed.  I will always remember her as she was in High School.  Heart felt condolences to her family.   Diane Patterson

Judie was always a ball of energy and good heartedness in high school. Such a good memory.And a terrific cheerleader. So sad..may her spirit soar...and her family feel the light of love surrounding them in these days. Ginny Dangremond

I remember Judy as very outgoing and a great personality. She always had a smile whenever you would see her. I will miss not seeing her again.

Jennie Werhane (Schrage)

I remember Judy as a daring soul.  Anyone else recall her talent show act of hula hooping?
