As of January 2023, I signed up to be a Notary Public, took classes and got my license. Was ready to start work when I found an online ad looking for baseball umpires. Loving baseball and working with young people it was a no brainer. So now, here I am six months later, umpiring one to two games each day during the week and anywhere from 3 to 6 games on Saturdays and Sundays. I am starting to get my stamina and love during the work. Feel young again and lost 14 pounds since January. This is a year around job as they have indoor facilities during the winter and rainy days. And I guess getting yelled at by a few parents and coaches, is par for the game. This is the next best thing to actually playing the game and getting paid for it. I spend 80% of the time behind the plate. Well, my first year has passed with November and December off, and back at it in January. Hope to get up to umping 100 to 200 games next year.
Built a replacement three car garage, to replace my old two car garage, to work on my toys.

Well I am with my 2nd year of umpiring and I joined NBUA (Northwest Umpires Baseball Association), one of the top umpire organizations in the country. I had to go thru 45-day rigid training to be certified. It is more intense, plus more pay. I am working one game everyday with three to four games each on Saturdays and Sundays. My goal is 225 to 275 games this year.
