NEW BERN - Edward "Ed" Lee Risty, 69, died Sunday, April 28, 2013, at home.
He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, retired from Craven County School System, and was a member of The Preservation Foundation, The English Speaking Union and The Riverside Association.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa Mann Risty; one daughter, Sarah Risty-Davis; and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Centenary United Methodist Church with the Rev. Susan Greenwood and the Rev. Brian Huffman officiating.
The family will receive friends at a reception immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial contributions be made to The Wild Animal Rehabilitation Center, 1312 Old Cherry Point Road, New Bern, NC 28560.
